·Ridge Park College has been listed as one of the top 100 schools in South Africa by the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, a leading investment group. The School has been identified as part of the “CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE” list of best performing schools in the country based on excellence in education and consistent delivery of successful candidates in the Allan Gray Fellowship. In particular, the number of candidates who obtained “A” symbols in Mathematics (higher grade) in 2007 had increased. The KZN Dept of Education acknowledged this by awarding the school R7 000.

·Tertiary institutions from outside the province such as UCT, Wits, Rhodes, Pretoria and Stellenbosch visit the school to market their institutions and offer bursaries to learners from RPC who are in demand at these institutions.

·Ridge Park emphasises values and principles, on developing responsible, disciplined learners with an emphasis on the school’s motto-honesty and integrity .Ridge Park is one of the first schools in the country to include the teaching of EQ(Emotional Intelligence)  as part of part of the Life Orientation Curriculum

·Integrated throughout the curriculum is the focus on teaching creative thinking and problem solving abilities so that learners can cope in times of crises. Other programmes such as the ACCORD conflict management programme, Edward De Bono’s 7 Hats and Sean Covey’s 7 Habits of highly effective teens form part of the life skills curriculum.

·We engage in numerous programmes that complement the process of  teaching and learning. A few examples are:

1. Our involvement in the Junior Achievement Mini Enterprise Programme aimed at developing young entrepreneurs.

2. We encourage a sense of community responsibility by assisting Childline in their fundraising endeavours.

3. A tremendously successful Work Experience Programme for Grade 11and grade 9 learners allows them the opportunity to explore the world of work in a highly structured and monitored environment as part of their assessment in Life Orientation. The programs were resounding successes and our learners’ experiences of the world of work showed amazing initiative, commitment and pure enthusiasm.
