Gender Based Violence - Women's Day 2024
The atmosphere was electric on the morning of August 7th, 2024, as the Ridge Park College Representative Council of Learners (RCL) and our educators, dressed in black, took to the streets in a powerful demonstration against gender-based violence (GBV) in celebration of Women's Day. Our learners, proudly clad in school uniforms, nearly brought traffic to a halt. With fists raised, voices united in freedom songs and school anthems, and posters held high, our young women made an undeniable statement for gender equity. Their chants for justice and calls to action resonated so strongly that passing parents showed their support with waves and honks. As more learners joined, they seamlessly became part of the movement, any conflicts or issues forgotten in a unified display of solidarity. Our young women truly shone as role models, carrying themselves with grace and dignity throughout. The public's enthusiastic response and encouragement made this an emotional and inspiring morning that left a lasting impact on everyone involved. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported and assisted! Let’s continue to stand together for justice, gender equity, and an end to GBV. Happy Women's Month 2024!
